Recently Bernie Sanders has renewed his commitment to being the pestering voice in the ear of President-Elect Donald Trump.
After a tumultuous election that Sen Sanders backing Sec. Hillary Clinton in her bid for the White house, Sanders appears to be ready for making sure the progressive voice gets heard. He’s just now starting to peak his head into the media outlets. With a final score of Trump=1, America=0, many Berners and Hillary supporters were left in heartbreak and tears…literally.
Up until just a couple days ago, all we saw of Sanders was fan fiction memes touting Bernie Sanders 2020 on social media. Now he’s found his voice, singing some familiar hits, as well actual nods to Trump:
Donald Trump tapped into the anger of a declining middle class that is sick and tired of establishment economics, establishment politics, and the establishment media. People are tired of working longer hours for lower wages, of seeing decent paying jobs go to China and other low-wage countries, of billionaires not paying any federal income taxes, and of not being able to afford a college education for their kids—all while the very rich become much richer.
To the degree that Mr. Trump is serious about pursuing policies that improve the lives of working families in this country, I and other progressives are prepared to work with him.
It’s refreshing to hear a positive, all-inclusive message. The Trump cringe factor is still extremely high among most the planet, but hearing Sanders say it could be a pacifier the planet just might need at this crossroad in time. We’ll take it!
The media will undoubtedly distort this into a cozy relationship between Trump and Sanders, but anyone who has watched Sanders work in the past knows his style is one of “keeping his enemies closer”.
The comfort level between the GOP and what’s left of the DNC will be interesting to watch over the next 5-6 months. Now owning both the House and the Senate, it will be interesting to see if democrats get limited to only picking up the dry cleaning for the our republican congess.
To the degree that he pursues racist, sexist, xenophobic, and anti-environment policies, we will vigorously oppose him.
Notice the ‘we’? I wouldn’t first think of the ‘we’ as any Democrat representatives, but what first comes to mind: The thousands and thousands of people coming out to hear what Sen. Sanders had to preach. His message was of one that makes you thankful for YouTube.
We haven’t seen the last of Sen. Sanders. Knowing the strength he has with his followers and his knack for being a thorn in the side of ugly corporate America, Sanders should be followed closely. His monitoring of the Titanic that is Trump where Sanders proves to be our nations best chance at not becoming a complete sell out.
